The Story Behind the Cult Classic and Pop Icon Series

I started the Cult Classics and Pop Icon series about 25 years ago, of course back then it was just called “drawing.” I was 7 years old when I began freehanding Iowa State and Minnesota Vikings football helmets on my school notebooks. It didn’t take long before commissions began building up – 25 cents per helmet.

I have honed my drawing, painting, and design skills over the years using the subject matter of popular culture. These skills have since crossed over into graphic design and fine art. I consider this style and subject matter to be the building blocks of my livelihood today. The work in this section is my modern day football helmet sketched on a notebook. I have kept this project going throughout my life because I simply cannot let it go.
